Page Rank in Web Marketing
How important is Page Rank on your Website.
After years of read all that I could get my hands on I really felt that page rank was a good thing. I felt that is Google gave my website a high Page Rank than that was a good thing. However, a few months back google knocked a lot of sites down in page rank. And the funny thing was it did not HURT my website traffic. It did not hurt my sales or my search engine positioning.
There is lots of controversy on how Page Rank is established. However, it seems that it mostly the incoming links. So it makes sense if some sites have a lot of content such as a newspaper site whereby folks take their content and link back to them, would get a higher Page Rank.
However what does page rank have to do with ad revenue?
If you search for my business, say a vacation rental for example and you find me at the top of the search engines, stay in my rental I make money. What does Page Rank have to do with that?

There does seem to be an increase of jobs in northwest Montana, with development, construction, and all the retail business is going up. However, for me I like being my own butt off that I have found that the Internet is the best place to find clients and for me to work very hard at my business, my own time and on my own schedule. I may work three days in a row with hardly any sleep and get more work done than a month at a regular job. Then I can take two weeks off and enjoy the North West Montana lifestyle that I live here for.

But the only real business I knew I was getting was from people that were finding me on the Internet. I know how much money I spend on Internet marketing, I know how to track the potential customers they're available to me online, I can keep in contact with my potential customers more often and with more detail and comfort than spending the entire day on the phone with them or sitting in a downtown office talking to them.
Take for example you are selling baseball cards, you may have a hundred people come into your store in a day and that would be very, very good. However 50 of them are just browsing the comics, or looking around, while they are waiting for somebody else in the mall or in a nearby business, 20 of them want to know why a baseball card cost so much, 20 of them want to sell you baseball cards that they have, and attended them but are actually interested in your product-five of them buy your product if you have to ask yourself if it is worth the rant, your current advertising, your utilities, and everything it takes for you to be open every single day that those hundred people can come in and may be buy from you, is it worth it.
Now consider this, you don't pay rent on a commercial space downtown anywhere, you don't pay for a phone and Internet service at two locations, you cut your advertising rates down and your return on your advertising rates go up, you do not pay utility bills at your home and at your commercial location, you cannot sit there all day talking to people who have no real interest in what you have to offer. Now you are online, you are joining the other millions of people with online and retail stores and you are able to have your store opened 24 hours a day, seven days a week and people can communicate with you when they want to, and you can communicate with them when it meets your schedule, they can browse your product while you are out spending time with your family. They can buy your product, while you are at the beach. You will fine-tune your website and work on your Internet marketing strategy on your time and in your way.
One of the obstacles in the above paragraph is that, yes, millions of other people are online trying to sell products just like you and possibly even your same product. They have been online for many years, how do you compete with these people and how do you provide some sort of special niche market that will make you stand out above just about anybody else in your field?
